In the text on page 17, we find that english has the higest amount of second language speakers (375 million people). Table one shows us that English is one of the few languages that has more second language speakers than native speakers (340 million people). Table two shows us that even though there are way more people speaking chinese as their mother tounge, it is still english that dominates as the language of Wikipedia (with 2,2 million articles.) According to te text you can clearly say that english is one of the most, maybe even the most important language we have today.
